Dragon Boat Festival weekend and it was the kind of hot you can’t run away from. We had reached northern Taiwan and it seemed everyone else alive in Taiwan had too. While most had come to marvel at what a close relationship between wind and rocks can produce we were here for a different reason. While its larger counterpart had been torn down in the last few years we knew there was still one “Pod Village” hiding out somewhere. Thanks to the powers of google earth and help from some friends we found the village. Surrounded by mountains, blue skies and wide blue oceans its hard to understand why they were abandoned in the first place. I wanted to pack up and set up shop in one of the shabby shells of homes that remain. Ocean, blue skies and no neighbours to deal with. It was an amazing place to photograph, so check out the photos below!
Hasn’t this place been demolished now? According to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanzhi_UFO_houses they are all gone now which is sad if true
There was a much larger one that was destroyed a few years ago. This is a smaller version and is still around. Close to the rock formations in Yeliou.
